Things You Need to Know About Gum Bleeding

By Dr. James    21 Mar,2024

The main cause of gum bleeding is gingivitis or periodontitis, which is inflammation caused by plaque acting on the gums or periodontal tissues.

Plaque is generally the initial factor causing periodontal disease.

The most common symptom of early periodontal disease is gum bleeding, often noticed while brushing.

Some people, upon noticing gum bleeding, refrain from brushing, which is incorrect.

If bleeding occurs during brushing, it's important to seek medical attention promptly, as this indicates gum inflammation has already developed.

Gum inflammation is typically characterized by bleeding, swelling, and recession of the gums.

Basic treatment methods can remove irritants from periodontal tissues, gradually eliminating gum inflammation.

Subsequent use of rinses, medication, and local mouthwashes can further alleviate or heal gum bleeding.

Gingivitis can be cured with proper treatment.

However, if it progresses to periodontitis, it requires basic treatment to control and halt its advancement in the early stages to prevent it from progressing to the later stages.

Therefore, gum bleeding is an important signal.

Once it occurs, it's crucial to seek periodontal treatment promptly.
