The New Album of Celine Dion
When it comes to Celine Dion, the first thing that pops into our mind may be the song “My Heart Will Go On”. Dion has sung it a great many times in public. It is the youth memory of the last generation. Because of this song, Dion has won four Grammys and two Oscars.
And what we are going to talk about today is not the popular song, but her new album—Courage.
The album was released in December, 2019. After two months of the release, Dion’s mother passed away. In the next day, Dion wore a white dress and sung “Somewhere over the rainbow” for her mother at her concert.
Celine Dion Sang “Somewhere over the rainbow” for Her Mother
While people were knocked by Dion’s adamancy, they couldn’t help thinking of the death of her husband four years ago. Her husband, whose name was Rene Angelil, had played an important role in Dion’s singing career.
The Beginning of The Career, The Birth of The Queen
Celine Dion was born in Canada. She began performing when she was five years old. At the age of twelve, Dion’s mother wrote a song for her, which was called Ce N'etait Qu'un Reve. It was the song that presented an opportunity for Dion to become a singer.
Her mother recorded a demo of the song and sent it to the agent Rene Angelil. After hearing the tape, Rene became very interested on the girl and sent her an invitation. Having seen Dien’s gift of singing, Rene decided that he would try every mean to make her a singing queen. Living up to Rene’s expectations, Dion made a great success and became the Pop Queen.
Appreciation of Discovery, Turned into True Love
During the time when she worked with Rene, Dion found that she gradually fell in love with him. However, because of the great differences in ages and experiences of marriage, Rene dared not to start a relationship with her. And Dion’s mother was strongly against it as well. She had even said that she would kill Rene!
In the end, love triumphs over everything. Dion and Rene, who loved each other, eventually won their families’ support and got married.
Lover Passed Away, Sad and Painful
Their marriage was not easy. Their true love could not conquer the attack of illness. In 1999, Rene was diagnosed with cancer. And Celin stopped her singing career and started to take care of her husband.
Under the gentle care of Celin, Rene was getting better at that time. However, when people thought that things were becoming better, Rene’s cancer returned, and he died in 2016.
In Rene’s funeral, we could still see smiles in Celin’s face, and she joked. But she fell into sadness after that. She would even take a heavy sigh, hearing his name.
No one could imagine her sadness when she was standing at the stage. No one knew how strong she should be to confront the misery. In the end, the only thing we knew her husband’s death was such a misery that we never see her in the public for the next two years.
New Stage, New Start
It’s hard to forget the pain of losing someone you love. So did Celin. She spent a whole two years to cure the pain. In 2019, she returned to the public, and we saw her haggard face. People were worrying about her, while she joked, “I am fine, and I don’t need your sympathy.”
In November, her new album--Courage was released, and the song with the same name in the album was a reflection of what she felt at that moment.
